Cornelia Sends Us "The Francis Prayer" Against "Fake News". I don't advise saying the Prayer, but maybe we should add some lines, "That the Truth Concerning the Fake News Put out by the Vatican about Sister Lucy be revealed in its Fullness........Amen."
The Francis Prayer —
With no Apologies to St. Francis
Cornelia R. Ferreira
To adjust to the changing historical situation, the prayer of St. Francis has undergone renewal by his namesake on the Chair of St. Peter.
The updated version is attached to his message for World Communications Day. The message calls for a “journalism of peace” and an end to “fake news.”
We present the prayer here, unedited and without any hermeneutic (title supplied by Catholic News Service):
Pope Francis’ Prayer for Countering ‘Fake News’
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Help us to recognize the evil latent in a communication
that does not build communion.
Help us to remove the venom from our judgements.
Help us to speak about others as our brothers and sisters.
You are faithful and trustworthy;
may our words be seeds of goodness for the world:
Where there is shouting, let us practice listening;
Where there is confusion, let us inspire harmony;
Where there is ambiguity, let us bring clarity;
Where there is exclusion, let us offer solidarity;
Where there is sensationalism, let us use sobriety;
Where there is superficiality, let us raise real questions;
Where there is prejudice, let us awaken trust;
Where there is hostility, let us bring respect;
Where there is falsehood, let us bring truth.
Amen.
Francis
World Communications Day will be held on May 13, 2018.
That is the anniversary of the day on which Our Lady appeared at Fatima with God’s plan for peace.
Ironically, in a skillful display of “fake news,” Her 101-year-old message has long been falsified by Popes and other Churchmen, producing ambiguity and confusion.
But be not afraid – where there is falsehood, surely Francis will bring truth.
